Archway Services PLC are pleased to be involved in the construction of the New Technology Centre at the Mount Vernon Hospital, which will be linked to the Cancer Centre, one of the first in the United Kingdom and second in the world – the other one being in California.
The access structure needed to be of strong design for the brick work operations but one elevation was required to be built-off of cantilevered steels for cladding with a light weight design as the lower level roofs had very little roof design loadings.
For this reason a Layher Modular System was chosen because of its design weights being up to 30% lighter than traditional tube and fittings. A terrific combination for producing extremely strong but lightweight access on a fast programme.
Mount Vernon Hospital is covered by two trusts, The Hillingdon Hospital Trust and West Hertfordshire Hospital Trust, providing specialist non-surgical oncology (cancer) services as well as being a reconstructive, plastic and burns centre for both adults and children, one of the largest units in the United Kingdom. It also has the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre based in its cancer centre which provides “drop-in” facilities for people affected by cancer. |
