The former Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough has undergone vast
regeneration and restoration as part of Slough Estates' outlined £20m plans. For decades the site has been covered by the Official Secrets Act and hidden
from public gaze. Now these historic aviation buildings will be opened to the
public for the first time with development of a new Grade 1 Listed heritage
centre, offices, studio workshops and a café bar.
The RAE was the location for many aeronautical and technical innovations
including engine design, performance testing and plane crash investigations.
The historic wind tunnels on the site will be externally restored with the
intention of being used commercially once again.
